Director
Alan (AJ) has been involved in the civil contracting industry for four decades, and with Robinsons since 1983. Previously he was involved in the demolition industry primarily working on multistoried buildings in Perth, Western Australia as on-site Project Manager. As a Director of Robinsons he shares overall responsibility for the leadership of the company and is still involved in local project management, estimating and client liaison . AJ has a talent for mentoring and his passion and commitment continually shape the strong team culture, and drives the company's fantastic staff retention. His eye for detail and dedication to quality inspires the Robinsons Promise of delivering a first class job every time.
Executive Director/Finance
Annie has a strong background in management and administration and has previously been involved in the mining, hospitality, horticulture/landscaping, travel and media industries. Annie holds the NZ Institute of Directors Certificate in Company Direction and has been Executive Director of Robinsons since 1992. She governs or directly manages many of the critical business functions including Finance, Administration, Payroll, HR and more. Annie's attention to detail and focus on continuous improvement sets the benchmark for Robinson’s professionalism, reliability and continuity.
General Manager
Cole became a key cog in our team in March 2020, having worked in the field for Robinsons as a teenager, Cole went on to studying Business at Victoria University, attaining a Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing & International Business) before entering the tourism industry, firstly as a Dive Instructor and Commercial Skipper, working both in New Zealand and overseas, before starting a NZ adventure tourism company with his brother Sam. This combined experience helped develop valuable leadership, communication, compliance and management skills. A Covid-19 pivot created the opportunity to rejoin Robinsons, initially as part of the Administration team. Cole quickly moved into managing key aspects of the business, leading to him taking on the role of General Manager in 2022.
Operations Manager
Tom joined our team in 2016 as a Project Manager, after 3 years with Geocivil Ltd in Christchurch, He completed his NZ Diploma in Engineering (Civil) in 2021, passing with top marks and progressed to his current role of Projects/Operations Manager. Tom’s combination of practical and technical knowledge, industry experience, and great people skills make him a key member of our Management team. Aside from managing company operations, Tom leads some of our more challenging civil projects that utilise our full range of civil and landscape skills as a company.
Pricing Manager
Sam joined us in 2018 and is qualified in Landscape Design and Horticulture. Previously Sam spent 3 years working for Second Nature Gardens in Auckland as a Contracts Administrator/Estimator – delivering high end (up to $700k) residential landscape builds within the Auckland region in addition to extensive prior landscaping experience both with Second Nature and other Landscape/Nursery employers. His experience includes both hard and soft landscaping including substantial construction aspects such as retaining walls, concrete, drainage and bespoke structures. Sam holds both NZ Diploma in Landscape Design and Nat. Cert. Horticulture L4 from Northtec. Sam is a key part of the management team and combines project management with estimation. His technical knowledge, particularly in the Civil Landscape arena combined with a keen eye for detail are a real asset to the company.
Project Manager
Sam returned to the Robinson team in March 2020 , having worked for the company in his teens and early 20’s. He also previously worked in the civil industry in Auckland and Christchurch as a skilled and experienced operator, and in the fitness industry as a Personal Trainer before venturing into a start-up Tourism venture. The skills Sam has developed from this pathway along with his practical hands-on background working on the full range of small to large projects, provides a refreshingly practical approach to his current role as a Project Manager/Estimator and key member of the Management team.
Project Manager
Harry joined our Project Management Team in 2022 as a Project Manager/Estimator. Before joining Robinsons Harry's previous role was in Forest & Civil Operations, managing 30+ staff and machinery, this gave Harry a solid base to transition into Civil and Landscape projects. Alongside his previous work history, Harry has a Bachelor of Forest Engineering with Honors from the University of Canterbury. Harry's rapid learning, great people skills and problem solving mindset have quickly led to him becoming a key member of the Robinsons Team.
Estimator / Senior Foreman
Richard (Richie) joined our team in 2007, starting as a Labourer and working his way up to Senior Foreman / Estimator. He is a valuable member of our senior team. His main focus and field of expertise is managing our sealing team – this involves the day-to-day organisation of resources and staff for both our residential and commercial sealing projects. Richard has recently taken on further responsibility within our pricing team, working alongside our Project Managers to provide quotes and manage projects for our clients but also continues to manage sealing teams on site.
Estimator/Quantity Surveyor
Zaid joined Robinson Asphalts in 2024 and brings over 15 years experience across civil and infrastructure construction, having worked in site supervision, project management, estimating and contract administration roles on roading, marine, structural concrete, structural steel and three waters projects. Holding a National Diploma in Civil Engineering and currently completing a Bachelor of Construction (Quantity Surveying), Zaid combines strong technical knowledge with a detailed understanding of practical construction.
Project Manager
James joined Robinsons in 2025, bringing extensive experience in civil construction, building and project delivery. James joined the industry from the ground up as a LBP qualified carpenter, moving on to Site Supervision then project Management. With over 18 years industry experience James combines strong practical knowledge and broad construction background make him well suited to managing complex civil and building projects from planning through to completion.
Estimator/Project Manager
After a past career in Media, Cameron joined the civil industry looking for a change. Since starting out in the field in maintenance and construction roles, Cameron fast moved into and Estimating role, where he now prices and manages his own projects. Cameron combines his combines his extensive landscaping knowledge and civil construction skills to think outside the square and come up with a solution for every client.
